Democratic candidates distancing themselves from Pres. Obama

Following the President’s speech on dealing with the terrorist group Islamic State, commonly referred to as ISIS, Democrats in tight Senate races, and even potential 2016 presidential hopefuls are putting some space between them and the Commander-in-Chief.

Alaska Sen. Mark Begich said he opposes arming Syrian rebels. “We must have greater assurance that we aren’t arming extremists who will eventually use the weapons against us,” he said.

I can’t say that I am at all surprised by this move.  President Obama came into office with the promise of pulling American troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan.  Now, he’s setting himself up for a potential open-ended conflict.

While yes, ISIS is a terrorist group that has killed innocent people, and they need to be dealt with.  The American people are not prepared by my estimations for another war in the Middle East.

Mr. President, if you’re going in, make sure you have a strategy to get out.

The White House is trying to avoid a certain word when dealing with Russia

U.S. President Barack Obama treaded carefully when asked whether Russia’s recent actions in Ukraine should be considered an invasion, an indication of how the White House continues to judiciously avoid the use of the word fearing its geo-political ramifications.

I can understand the White House’s reasoning for trying to avoid the word “invasion” for fear of pissing the wrong country off.  But if it looks like a duck, and smells like a duck…

Russian troops enter Ukraine

I feared that this was only a matter of time, but now it does seem to be happening.  According to Reuters, the Ukrainian President has confirmed that Russian troops have entered his country.

There is no way this ends well.

To the rest of the world, stop dickering around with sanctions against Russia, because they don’t seem to be doing a damn thing.  It’s time to focus on helping Ukraine defend itself.  The fear of poking the bear (Russia) is not good enough any more.  Guess what, the bears awake and he’s found food, now we all need to protect that food.

United Nations releases new death toll numbers

191,000 people have lost their lives during the Syrian conflict: UN

191,000 people have lost their lives during the Syrian conflict: UNI just about fell over when I read this report from the United Nations.

The new death toll in the conflict in Syria has risen to 191,000.

This conflict needs to end, but there is only one way it can.  That is by the rebels and rebel sympathizers to take down Al-Assad.  The countless human rights violations that have been committed by the current Syrian regime is reprehensible.

It is time for the West to stand up and end the human rights abuses.
